Typical Tex-Mex food, which is to say the Americanized version of Mexican food. Margarita was good, but a little spendy for what you get. Food was about what you'd expect; lots of gravy on top of stuff, obviously not genuine Mexican food. The black beans were very salty too, which wasn't expected nor good. The chips and salsa were the best part; warm chips and a nice spicy salsa.

This was some really good food. Me and my wife both got the macho burrito, however I got mine with only meat and cheese, and it was delicious. When I ordered mine with nothing on it, the waiter seemed a little worried that I might change my mind about wanting it plain, then when he brought the food out, he brought a plate with all the stuff that would normally be in the burrito. This gave everybody else at the table extra toppings and stuff, so that was pretty cool. Service was fast and friendly, prices were not very expensive at all, and the atmosphere was very upbeat and enjoyable. Bathrooms could use some work, but who goes to a restaurant for the bathrooms? If you plan to review this place, I suggest doing it after eating, but before leaving, because when you check in here, a yelp coupon pops up for a free dessert with review.

We ate here last night while visiting my college student daughter. We were seated with complimentary chips and nicely flavored salsa right away. She ordered carne asada and enjoyed it, while I went with a cheese enchilada and fried chile relleno, both of which were good. The plate came with the standard rice and beans which were excellent, scooped up with the chips as sort of an impromptu nacho. The service was friendly and attentive and I won't hesitate to eat here again the next time I'm in Colorado Springs.

The wait for food and drinks is always slow, even when the place is dead, the food is amazing. The variety and options of their menu is crazy! Atmosphere is awesome and this location is always very clean. Only been there before 5pm and never had to wait, for seating at least.

I have been to this restaurant quite a bit and I have to say that it is just "OK". I ordered the tacos once and will never order them again. The seasonings they use are aweful and there is so much grease it makes the taco shell soggy. I generally order the cheese enchiladas with the verde sauce and that is about the only dish I like there. The rice and beans aren't very good, but once they are smothered in salt and verde enchilada sauce they are better! Their chips never taste really fresh, I'm not 100% convinced that they make them on site. The salsa is pretty good and the bean dip is great! Word of warning, if you go to the newer location on Powers you have to ask for the bean dip. It's still free, they just don't give it to you right away like the other locations do.

Food was delicious! Authentic. Margarita, bottom shelf, was yummy. Service was slow, but when he was here, he was happy and respectful. I will come back here. Mmmm

Ordered the carnitas burrito... was definitely one of the best burritos I think I've ever eaten.

I really enjoy coming here. The place is huge so you don't have to wait to be seated. How many places can you walk into on a Friday and not wait 45 minutes? Not many! The staff is really friendly and legit Mexican! I was so excited to find real Mexican food out here. It's reasonably priced and the drinks are cheap, too.

At first glance the exterior doesn't seem to inviting. The bars on the windows have bars covering them, but after a bit of asking I was told by the owner they intentionally left them on and painted them to give the look of a Mexican veranda. Walking in we were immediately greeted and seated than given chips and two different salsas to snack on. The owner of 3 Margaritas herself,Lily, happened to be in the restaurant and was speaking to every table. She was an extremely nice woman. She came over to our table and asked about our meal and chatted with my wife and I for a few minutes about the restaurant and area. She explained how all the art and vases were strait from Mexico, defiantly a nice little touch to the decor since the building itself used to be a steakhouse so they are still going through a total transformation process. The food itself was actually really good, large portions with fresh ingredients. I had the spinach burrito, one of their house specials, and at first I was a bit weary about the look but one bite set me strait, absolutely tasty. I think I may have found my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area.

Sorry to say I will not return. The red sauce was too much. The meat on the burrito would have been better as ground beef the grande Margarita tasted too sour like had all mix and ice. However the service was great. Just the food didn't make me wanna return

I will never return to this place. Ordered naked fajitas and they served 7 small pieces of meat on a plate with some green peppers. Really? I asked for no beans, no rice, no tortillas, no sauce, no chips and they still charged me over $ 12.00. Are they kidding? It also took over 1/2 hour to serve 4 of us. When our food arrived it was barely warm, I mentioned the 1/2 hour wait, and he said, well you got it. My friend had a tamale which was bland. Do not eat here. The service is poor, and the food is mediocre at best!

This is a solid 3 star place. I keep trying them, just to hopefully be able to give them more stars. But, they are consistantly an "A-OK" mexican restaurant. They're never too busy and they're always friendly, but the food is just okay. It's not horrible, and it's not amazing. It's a good place to meet up with friends or family last minute without having to wait forever and get a decent margarita and a bite to eat when you're starving. And, just to let anyone out there using the free dessert offer when you review on Yelp, it's not a normal size dessert. It's just the ice cream.

OMG!! It was so delicious. I recommend the deluxe burrito chicken, no beans ,and the queso on top. The people there are very very nice, especially the greeter. The best Mexican Restaurant in the Springs.

So disappointed. I've worked retail and dealt with customers long enough. It takes something bad to make me give someone 1 star... We ordered take out from this place one night. I love Mexican food, even Americanized Mexican food. But this was just eh..bland and tasteless...over cooked... It wasn't great. I wouldn't go back for the food... But the service...The service is horrible! They need a change over. My roommate has some food allergies and we specifically asked, several times, to make sure there were no mushrooms in any of our food. Even if they are in the house, they can kill her, especially uncooked. Upon arrival at home, mushrooms everywhere, in every dish! We had to run all the meals out side and toss them. We called them and they pretty much told us too bad. After we talked to the owner or manager or something, who had to call us from home because he wasn't there, he said he'd remake the food for us to pick up. So my other roommate set back out for a 45 minute drive to pick up the food....again. He checked the food there and low and behold, one plate had mushroom in it still...He waited for them to recook the meal and we finally got to eat our eh...blah..not satisfying food. They didn't even offer us anything for the wasting of our time and the almost killing my roommate!

This is the WORST Mexican food I have ever eaten. First, their delivery service is awful. Second, and most important, every item we ordered had something wrong. -The Lunch Special Quesadilla Ranchera is quoted as follows (both on Yelp menu and GrubHub) "Three flour tortillas, filled with cheese and your choice of chicken or beef, garnished with guacamole, sour cream, tomatoes and onions." We received ONE. When I called the restaurant, they first accused the delivery service by saying I needed to call them because "we sent what you ordered, if it didn't reach you, it's the delivery service's fault." Then he changed his tune and stated, "Oh no, that only comes with one quesadilla, the website must be really wrong." Hmmm okay, then refund me two-thirds of the price, because I ordered three, not one. -The Chicken Fajitas came with tortillas that had OBVIOUSLY been store bought and nuked in a microwave, because they were already starting to get that gummy middle, hard edge that happens when you microwave flour tortillas and they stick together. Also the meat was insanely greasy and half of the veggies advertised were not included. Again, this was blamed on the delivery service. -Their college dorm version of Queso "Dip" was LITERALLY, not exaggerating, just a pile of Chorizo with shredded cheese that they had melted over it. I have never seen that anywhere. Now, I will admit I didn't read the description as well as I should have, because I went by the name of the item, which was Queso DIP, and there was nothing dippable about this. It literally broke the chips I tried to use to scoop it up because it was such a congealed mess. -The salsa they use is more of a picante sauce. Lots of heat, no flavor, water thin. Overall a miserable experience.

Nice place and clean but I asked the waiter for a single dry burrito with no rice inside and he brought me a skinny burrito and when I ask him if he was sure if this was my burrito ? Said well you did say no rice and he is right but when I started to cut into it I noticed there was barely any meet inside ? I asked our waiter how much they were charging me $9.95 same price as a full dinner plate I could get a better burrito off a lunch truck for less and what really got me upset was the waiter didn't even try to fix what I was upset about ? So when you go make sure you order your food and ask ask ask to make sure you know what your getting As for the taste it's okay but there is better Mexican food down the street so check out the area first

We tried this place after moving here, and were very disappointed since it came so highly recommended. I ordered the seafood chimichanga. There was hardly any seafood to it, and it also had broccoli. No where in the description was broccoli mentioned. It was so gross. I do not recall what my husband ordered, but whatever it was, wasn't memorable. Never went back, as it wasn't worth a second chance.

This place was horrible! I ordered fajitas and got some nasty carne taquitos. I told the waiter the order was wrong and he said no it wasn't : () he was extremely rude and the food was disgusting! Don't waste your time or your money! If you want real Mexican food with good customer service go to Hacienda.

The food, margaritas, and atmosphere are wonderful here. We hosted a retirement party and have eaten here multiple times. This family owned establishment has great food! Pollo con Crema is my favorite....also their Pico De Gallo and Tomatillo sauce are really tasty!

I like this place. Not sure why it has gotten so many blah reviews. Went there on a weekday at 4:45PM and we were just about the only ones there. Big platters, good 'ritas cheap during happy hour. Just moved here so haven't tried more than 2 Mexican restaurants. If anyone has a recommendation for the best Mexican food in COS let me know.

Worst dining experience I've ever had. The service was horrible, the food was terrible, and they tried to charge us for things without telling us that they would be extra money to begin with. We went around 6pm and the place was nearly empty, which should have been our first clue to leave. The staff (minus one girl) hardly paid any attention to us, and we kept having to flag them down to get refills on our tea. We ordered our food, and it took over 30 minutes to get it. When a restaurant has two tables worth of customers, 30 minutes is unacceptable. When the food finally came out, it was completely gross. We had chile relleno that was soggy and bland, a tamale that was only partially cooked, and enchiladas that were completely underwhelming. We always like to finish our food or take it home, and we couldn't stomach this stuff. Then when the bill came, we noticed charges that we didn't recognize. We took it to the hostess up front and she informed us that getting certain things (like beef) was extra money. We let her know that we weren't told that they would be extra, and she corrected the extra charges. We left with a bad taste in our mouths in more ways than one. We'll never come back.

Once again a good time at 3 Margaritas on Academy/Austin Bluffs did not disappoint . The owner Jessie of 3 Margarita's on Austin Bluffs/Academy in Colorado Springs took awesome care me and my family. A party of 7. Every Tuesday night is kids eat free. The Margarita's are $2.99 everyday at any hour!! They have awesome Mexican food for reasonable prices and great service. My husband hates chains but he really likes this place. Senior and Military specials of 10% off everything not to mention Happy Hour. Tell Jesse Aaliz (Alise) sent you. I know, he will take good care of you. Try the fajitas!!! FYI: They are three 3 Margaritas on Academy so make sure you have the right one. The cross street is Austin Bluffs!!!

Call it 3.5 stars, better than average and consistent. I've eaten here and had quick lunch meetings a couple times and their enchiladas have been good both times. Good chips and salsa and rice and beans. I always judge a Mexican place heavily by the rice & beans. For that matter, I always expect any restaurant to perform well on the basics as well as the big stuff. If a Mexican place can't do rice & beans well the odds are not good that the other food will be good.

Have had lots of Mexican food all over the United States and Mexico, the food was par, good, not amazing. The atmosphere was above average, can tell they took the time to design the interior. I ordered the traditional margarita and the rocks ($4.75) and was pleased with their combination of taste to kapoowee (alcohol) factor. Lunch specials were exceptionally priced, lunch for two with a drink for about $22.00! If you are looking for Mexican food with acceptable pricing this is it.

We have gone to various 3 Margaritas restaurants in CO Springs and Denver. Usually we've had a good experience. We just went to the one in CO Springs at Airport and Academy. To say it was terrible would be an understatement. The "hot sauce" tasted like tomato juice. Cold refried beans apparently straight from the can with a few cheese crumbles on top was also offered with the chips. Both were ghastly. We had macho burritos and burrito con chorizo. The food was so bland it was tasteless. Who ever heard of bland "Mexican" food and bland chorizo?! The service was also bad. The only time we saw our waiter after the food was delivered was to present us with the bill. And then he offered additional beverages! Instead painting they should've closed!

Typical chain Mexican food. We came for dinner and were seated in the bar. It was noisy with FOUR TV's going -- pretty irritating. But we were too hungry to care at that point. Drinks were okay. Seemed fair for price. Food fair for price -- nothing special. Liked the bean dip alternative. Great service, very friendly and attentive.

Great little chain mexican restaurant in Colorado Springs. When we used to live here, the wife and I would eat at this location once a week. On a recent trip back, we decided to stop in and see if it still met our expectations. I'm happy to report that it did. Starters: The bring fresh chips (sometimes a little too salty) along with a hot, red, homemade salsa and a bean/cheese dip. Excellent! Main course: The wife had shredded beef enchiladas with rice and beans, which she thoroughly enjoyed. I had the steak fajitas, served sizzling with a gigantic mound of bell peppers and onions. Very good.

Personally, I like On The Border a lot more than 3 Margaritas in terms of chain American-Mexican food. Every location I've been to has been run down, and the food rather bad.

My first impression was, "Whoa, HUGE SERVINGS." I went with a party of 4 and we all came out with to-go boxes. One of us ordered the quesadilla plate and it was enough to feed all of us. It was as big as a pizza! The food was good, but nothing exciting, and the rice and beans weren't as impressive. At every Mexican food place I try, I judge their food mostly on their rice and beans because I feel like it's the determination factor in how good their food really is (it's a part of almost every single dish, so it has to be good)! The red sauce enchiladas were delicious. The burritos are HUGE as well, if you're gonna do Mexican food, you should always get more than what you pay for. My brother in law is in the army and he got his military discount on our bill. The service was okay, and the the Mexican theme is very well played out. Unless you're in the city (Denver) part of Colorado, I recommend going to the hole-in-the-wall type of Mexican food places rather than these restaurants in Colorado Springs. The lasting impression, "Service was great, the food...eh."

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
